An award-winning marketing strategist, clients and speaking audiences alike turn to Carman for his insights into how the evolution of the social web is changing the world of communications.
Carman is co-founder of Kula Partners, a marketing agency built for our hyper-social world. Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Kula Partners works with a range of regional and national clients creating marketing strategies and programs designed to grow brands by connecting people to each other.
Prior to Kula Partners, Carman launched Colour’s Social Media practice in 2007 making Colour one of Canada’s first integrated marketing and public relations firms to embrace the rapidly changing, Web 2.0-fueled communications environment.
His unique approach to developing social media-savvy marketing strategies has driven innovations such as the tourism industry’s first social media conversation center and tackled the daunting task of online reputation and issues management surrounding Canada’s oil sands.
Providing senior counsel to a diverse set of private and public sector clients across Canada, Carman’s strategies have been employed for everything from promoting Canada’s newest MBA program for Dalhousie University to the launch of Lotto Max with the innovative “Going to the Max” campaign.
His distaste for the ordinary has even turned bathroom plungers into media in the nationally recognized Landlord Lou campaign for Killam Properties, resulting not only in record occupancy rates but also in numerous awards including a Gold Award for Media Innovation from Marketing Magazine.
