Based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Ride Time car dealership is run by Doug and Andrew MacIver—better known as The Brothers of Bargains. As third generation car dealers, The Brothers of Bargains are well known throughout Manitoba for their extensive vehicle knowledge, as well as their viral videos and Bargain Brothers reality TV show—an insightful and often hilarious look at the used car business. After a recent move into a brand new facility in Winnipeg—complete with a vehicle turntable for taking 360-degree photos and video—Ride Time came to Kula Partners to build a responsive, ecommerce-enabled website that would allow visitors from anywhere in Canada to easily find the perfect vehicle for them, purchase online, and have it shipped directly to their door.
To help Ride Time achieve this goal, we built their site applying mobile-first design principles. Today, roughly 30-50% of web traffic and searches originate from handheld devices. Ride Time needed a site that would be welcoming for mobile users and intuitively respond to their screen size—ensuring visitors using mobile, tablet, laptop, or desktop devices would all have the same, easy-to-navigate experience.
Ride Time’s new site allows visitors to easily access resources, book test drives, browse vehicles and parts, and request shipping or financing quotes. They can even take a complete, 360-degree virtual tour of the interior and exterior of vehicles. Thanks to integration with HubSpot, all of the information provided in exchange for these services is captured for future lead nurturing purposes.
As part of the build, we also implemented a custom search option for users to browse and search through Ride Time’s available vehicles. This vehicle list is updated hourly, pulling data from the cDemo API, which acts as a repository for information on Ride Time’s vehicle inventory. When a visitor sees a vehicle they are interested in, they’re also provided with automated financing details, giving them a clear picture of what their payments will look like. We also implemented a new “My Garage” feature, enabling visitors to compile a quick list of vehicles that interest them while providing Ride Time with another way to capture important lead information.
Once a user finds the right vehicle for them, Ride Time’s fully integrated WooCommerce ecommerce solution simplifies their entire purchasing process. Regardless of their location, Ride Time customers can quickly and securely provide their information and payment details and then have their new vehicle shipped to their home.
The new Ride Time site went live in February of 2017 and it earned its first 100% online sale within a week of launch. With its mobile first design, easily accessible inventory, and expansive ecommerce capabilities, RideTime.ca provides Winnipeg’s Brothers of Bargains with the website they need to successfully expand their operations nationwide.
